how to build your own website for free

The abseil against on the cliff face of the Magaliesberg was developed to provide an alternative to hiking down from the top of the mountain after climbing the Via Ferrata.

Why do the double pitch abseil from the summit of the Magaliesberg after climbing the Via Ferrata?

You will experience an exciting, adrenalin filled escape from everyday life which will give you the confidence to enjoy real adventure.

  • This is the most exciting hiking, rock climbing and abseiling experience available in the whole of the Gauteng and North West Provinces.
  • From our visitors book: "This was great - never done any rock climbing before; the Via Ferrata was a brilliant introduction!" T W from Benoni.

  • You visit with relative safety the sites and experience the thrills previously reserved only for ardent rock climbers.

  • During the climb and abseil you will improve your eye, hand and body coordination, listening skills and conquer your fear for the unknown.

  • This is an excellent group and team building adventure.

What does it entail?

You arrive at Shelter Rock Base Camp where you park your car and the adventure begin.

  • A briefing by the instructor on what to expect and safety issues is conducted.
  • Gear and refreshments for the experience is issued.
  • You then hike to the base of the cliff face from where you climb the Stairway (Via Ferrata or Iron Way) to the summit of the Magaliesberg.
  • After enjoying the view from the top you abseil halfway down the cliff face to a ledge where you wait for your fellow abseilers while you enjoy the view of the valley and the Hartebeestpoort Dam.

  • You then complete the second abseil with its vertical drop to the bottom of the cliff face before hiking down the mountain
