
Descend from the top of the Magaliesberg on an adrenalin
packed 100 meter double pitch abseil or do a 7 and 25 meter abseil at The Shelter Rock.
The double pitch abseil from the top of the Magaliesberg provides you with an
exciting, adrenalin
filled escape from everyday life and give you the confidence to
enjoy real adventure. You will enjoy the most
exciting
abseil
experience available in the whole of the Gauteng and North
West Provinces.
Our double pitch abseil of 100 meters is only
surpassed by the abseil of 112 meters down Table Mountain.
The
7 meter and 25 meter abseils at The Shelter Rock is an ideal opportunity for those who wish to
experience the excitement of abseiling without having to walk all the way
to the cliff
face.
Your Abseil Adventure
You arrive
at Shelter Rock Base Camp where you register and coffee/tea is provided. A
briefing on what to expect and safety issues is conducted in the
reception area at Base Camp. Gear is issued
before you
are transported to the end of the mountain road. You then hike to your abseil location.
Requirements
Anyone
in good health and fit enough to handle trail hiking,
can do the Abseil and Via Ferrata. Wear
loose fitting clothing and good shoes (tennis shoes, light hiking
boots etc.; no sandals). Long hair must be secured. Use lots of
sunblock. Bear in mind that it becomes exceptionally
hot on the Magaliesberg.
Qualified instructors will
give
you ample opportunity to gain the confidence to enjoy
the experience.
Allow
at least 3 hours for the abseil at The Shelter Rock and and 6-7 hours for the abseil from the top of the Magaliesberg.
Not
recommended for children less than 1.2 meters in height and at
least 10 years old.
Bring along your own refreshments and bottled
water.
