From
Pretoria
Take
the N4 and then the R560, drive past the Hartebeestpoort Dam, Magalies
Park and
Van
Gaalen Kaasmakerij. or
Take
the R104 past Pelindaba. The R104 becomes the R512 and then joins the
R560 with
a
T-junction at Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij.
From
Monte Casino
Take
the R564 and turn right on to the R512. Drive past Lanseria and the
Lesedi Cultural
Village
until you reach the T-junction at Broederstroom. Turn left and follow
the road past
the
Hartebeestpoort Dam on the right. Do not turn right to cross the dam
but continue until
you
reach the T-junction and Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij.
From
Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij, turn
left on the R560 and drive
past Die Ou Pastorie and Bill Harrop's Balloon
Safaris
until you reach the border between Gauteng and Northwest, just before
the
chicken
farm. (15.3km). There are white roman pillars with the name TOLBOS in
red on
left. There is a brown Shelter Rock tourism
sign 350 meters before the tolbos sign.
From
Krugersdorp and the West Rand
Take
the N14 until it makes a T-junction with the R563. Turn right on to
the R563 and
follow
the road through the mountain until you reach the T-junction at
Hekpoort. (24km)
Turn
right on to the R560 and drive until you reach the border between
North West
Province
and Gauteng (just after the chicken farm). (8km). There are white
roman pillars with the name TOLBOS in red on the right.
There is a brown Shelter Rock tourism sign
350 meters before the Tolbos sign.
From
Tolbos turn North on to the dirt road in the
direction of the
Magaliesberg. Cross the River and drive up to the stop sign at the
T-junction. (3.1km).Turn left and find the entrance to Shelter Rock
(a farm gate) down the road on the right hand side. (1km)
or turn North at Tolbos and follow the
brown tourism signs to
the entrance to Shelter Rock.
